Change of Season SyndromeIt happens every time the season changes. Thousands of people across the country come down with "change of season
syndrome". What is this you ask? Basically it is when a person does an activity for the first time in
a while, and does it as if they have been doing it all along. Or even easier, it's overdoing it.
This
time of year people will ride a bike for the first time in 6 months and pick up right where they left off last fall with a
100 mile ride. Or they think nothing of being bent over gardening for 3 hours straight. Most blame it on getting
old although that isn't true. It's real cause is from being deconditioned physically and then doing too much
too fast.
Prevention is the best medicine. Staying active through out the year can help prevent this.
But if that didn't happen this year, that's ok, just approach your favorite acitvity slowly. Don't try and
run the marathon on your first run. Ease into it. You'll have a much more enjoyable summer and can prevent
injuries that could sideline you for the season.
Untill Next time.
